This section shows terrain analysis of Pune using the Cartosat Digital Elevation Model (CARTO DEM) developed by ISRO. Cartosat DEM provides detailed elevation information useful for regional topographic analysis.
Using this dataset, terrain parameters such as Elevation, Slope, Aspect, Hillshade, Drainage Density, and Stream Order were generated. These outputs help in understanding terrain variation, drainage patterns, and landscape structure across Pune.

Aspect indicates the direction that a slope faces (north, south, east, or west). In the Pune region, aspect influences sunlight exposure, vegetation growth, and microclimatic conditions. It is important for environmental and ecological studies.

Drainage Density refers to the total length of streams and rivers within a given area divided by the total area. In Pune, drainage density analysis helps understand the distribution of the river network, watershed characteristics, and surface runoff patterns.

Slope describes the steepness or gradient of the land surface. In Pune, slope analysis helps identify flat areas, moderate slopes, and steep terrain in the surrounding hills. It is useful for land-use planning, soil erosion studies, and hydrological modeling.

Stream Order is a method used to classify streams based on their hierarchy in a drainage network. In the Pune area, stream order analysis helps identify major rivers and smaller tributaries, which is useful for watershed management and hydrological studies.
